Building Maintenance Branch

Introduction

It is the division that carries out all the work and supervision related to all the construction and maintenance work of the main office of the Labor Department (General Secretariat of Labour), Mission Construction, District Labor Offices and Sub-Labor Offices.

The main functions

The main function of the Operations and Maintenance Division is to deal with the maintenance of government buildings and other construction works in the main offices and district offices and regional offices of the Department of Labour.

Also, it is our department’s responsibility to build an office environment with good facilities so that the staff officers and office workers can perform their duties efficiently and thereby provide efficient service to the public.

Under that, under the guidance of civil engineer and electrical engineer, the daily construction and maintenance works of all affiliated offices within the department are carried out by electricians, plumbers and carpenters and they are working to complete these tasks as quickly as possible.

Also, the engineers of the department will always provide the necessary engineering technology support and consulting support for the construction of all the offices. The construction work of the district labor offices of Ratnapura, Badulla, Hatton, Naula, Vavuniya is scheduled to start.
